Full Day Preschool


Each new school year begins in September and runs through August.

Butterfly Class

Age 2 to younger 3 year olds

7:30 am – 5:30 pm September through August
Monday – Friday (Choose 2 – 5 days)
Children do not need to be toilet trained.

Group size:
12 children / 2 teachers

A preschool class where children become familiar with and feel comfortable in a full-day school setting that balances social and emotional development.  Each day is spent fostering the growth of the individual child as they learn through play.  Children will engage in activities that build self-confidence and self-help skills.  Teachers provide numerous opportunities for physical, emotional, social, creative and cognitive growth.  Children will have the opportunity to experience the playground both morning and afternoon. On various days, the class will also use the gym. Children bring their own lunch and drink.  State licensing requires a scheduled nap period mid-day; child size sleeping bags are required.  Summer includes opportunities to bring daily learning activities outdoors.  Children will experience picnics on the deck, gardening, and water play in swimsuits.

Rainbow Class

Age 3½, 4 or 5

7:30 am – 5:30 pm September through August
Monday – Friday (Choose 2 – 5 days)
Toilet trained recommended.

Group size:
16 – 22 children / 2 teachers and 2 assistant teachers

A preschool class that supports individual development with a focus on building strong social and emotional skills for success in kindergarten and beyond.  The classroom is designed with learning materials appropriate for children to become enthusiastic learners in literacy, math, science, social studies, and the arts.  The teachers provide activities that encourage children to develop their natural curiosity, problem solve, discover and become capable learners.  Children learn through play in large groups, small groups and independently with a balance of teacher-initiated and child-initiated activities. Children will have the opportunity to experience the playground both morning and afternoon.  On various days, the class will use the gym. Tenney is an independent 4-k preschool. Families have the option of enrolling at Tenney for 4-k or enrolling in public 4-k. Lapham school will bus children to Tenney
