A preschool class that supports individual development with a focus on building strong social and emotional skills for success in kindergarten and beyond. The classroom is designed with learning materials appropriate for children to become enthusiastic learners in literacy, math, science, social studies, and the arts. The teachers provide activities that encourage children to develop their natural curiosity, problem solve, discover and become capable learners. Children learn through play in large groups, small groups and independently with a balance of teacher-initiated and child-initiated activities. Children will have the opportunity to experience the playground both morning and afternoon. On various days, the class will use the gym. Children bring their own lunch and drink. State licensing requires a scheduled nap/rest period mid-day; child size sleeping bags are required. Summer includes opportunities to bring daily learning activities outdoors. Children will experience picnics on the deck, gardening, and water play in swimsuits.
Tenney is an independent 4-k preschool. Families have the option of enrolling at Tenney for 4-k or enrolling in public 4-k. Lapham school will bus children to Tenney
